Two-Million Layer BioSTAR™ System Schematic
The integrated BioSTAR™ System Schematic processes both wet and dry manure, along with the incidental mortality, from the two-million layer egg production facility to produce approximately 13,000 tons per year of premium organic fertilizer and enough biogas to fuel a 3 Megawatt co-generation plant. The biogas is stripped of hydrogen sulphide and moisture removed. A portion of the biogas is used to fuel the dryer at the fertilizer plant. Recovered heat from the co-generation plant is used to maintain the operating temperature of the anaerobic digestion process. The underflow water from the solids separation operation is pathogen-free and contains only trace amounts of nutrients. Up to 90% of this water can be recycled without further treatment and re-used. In this project, BioStar’s customer is achieving a 98% reduction in the total solids currently discharged to their lagoon system.
